The Death of The Reg Blog

My dearest friends, it seems to me that this little old blog is slowly dying. It has not had a post or comment in many months and I wonder if anyone even looks at this any more. So, I ask of you, if you are looking at this, leave your comment so this lonely old blog knows that someone still loves it, holds it dear and thinks of it once in a while.

Angi is a mom...

Hmm.... that still seems a little weird. I really love this little girl. She's a little harder to love at 2am when I have to pat her back for 1hr the whole time praying she'll go to sleep but then the sun comes up and I see her beautiful eyes and her chubby cheeks. It's really amazing!

Potpouri

Hello friends,

I have so many little random things to tell. My life's a little crazy lately. So in laundry-list fashion, here's what I've been up to:

1. I PASSED MY CPA EXAMS!!! I just found out about two weeks ago that I passed the final section (which I was completely convinced that I had failed & was going to have to retake). It feels so nice to be done!

2. Because I passed my CPA, I get a bonus at work. I decided to use part of my bonus to buy a digital piano. I found one that I really wanted on Craig's List, and after a battle with another potential buyer (which ended in the seller writing our names on scraps of paper and drawing one out of a bag), I came off victorious. Oh, sweet success!

3. I just got my braces off yesterday. What, you say? Aren't braces for twelve-year-olds? Yes, yes they are. Twelve-year-olds...and people who get there teeth knocked out.

There I was, camping in Mexico. My roommate & her boyfriend were asleep, and the rest of us were just waiting for them to wake up so that we could go have an adventure. One of us, whom we will call "The Baron", had the bright idea to do a ninja-attack on the unsuspecting dreamers. I, naturally, agreed to attack my roommate, and he agreed to take her boyfriend. I had no sooner jumped on my prey, when she, obviously startled by my stealth moves, promptly elbowed me in the mouth, knocking my front right tooth back at an ugly angle and popping my permanent retainer off. One month and a set of braces later, my tooth is mostly back in place, albeit a little gray. I have to get a root canal done, and they said they'd bleach it from the inside as part of the process, so hopefully it'll be back to it's old color soon.

4. I'm so sick of busy season!!! I've been working until 9:30 or 10:00 most every night for three months now. It's so draining. And the client that I've been on for the majority of the time sucks. I was pretty proud of myself this one day, though, when I got this guy who worked for my client fired. He was incompetent and he would yell at me when I would call him out on things that he was clearly doing wrong. He seriously almost made me cry a couple of times when he yelled at me. But I was able to reveal his incompetence & mistakes to the world (or more just his boss, I guess), and next thing I knew they had fired him. Vindication.

5. Light at the end of the tunnel: 4 1/2 more weeks and I'm off this client (until next busy season...argh). As soon as I roll off, I'm going to Maui for five days with a group of 16 people, mostly from my ward (don't worry, Mel, I still think I'm going to come in September). Then the next weekend after that I'm going to a bachelorette party in Palm Springs for a couple of girls in my ward. Then the next weekend (Labor Day), I'm flying to Utah, road-tripping it up to Washington to go to the Sasquatch Music Festival (which R.E.M. is headlining), and then stopping in Boise for a day or two before flying back to LA. What a weekend, huh? I'm crazy...

6. No boy news to update you on. I'm still as single as ever. I've got one little crush, but it doesn't look like it's going to go anywhere. Whatever. Single life isn't half bad.

Anyway, I hope that you're all doing well. And that your husbands are all doing well. And that the buns in your ovens are cooking up nicely.

Later,

Lynsey

Just an update

So, I thought I would just let you all in on what's happening at the Averett house. Aubrey's married. My parents are in the MTC getting ready to head half way around the world. I have problems with gas and my syatic nerve (at least, that's what the neighbor said - about the syatic nerve, which I obviously don't know how to spell.) And the weather is beautiful, so no complaining about that.

Growing Pains

I realize that I am growing in more ways than one, and yes, that is painful sometimes. However, today I would like to vent about the growing pains we must all experience, male or female, that have to do with insurance! AAAARGH! That's what I have to say about that. Thankfully, all of the customer service reps I have consulted with today have been very friendly. Although, I have to say, it was rather funny when Aaron called a customer service person about something the other day (of course, he had to call twice) and he said it sounded like he was talking to someone in India every time he called. How strange is that. We really do live in a connected world. Too bad there has to be so many bugs in the system.
